The Princess and the Frog Toys, Dolls & Dresses - Disney, Tiana, dress & bedrooms

Disney Princess and the Frog Disney Princess returns to the big screen in 2009 with a new animated film called Princes and the Frog, based on the book by E.D. Baker and directed by John Musker and Ron Clements who are responsible for some all time Disney greats like The Little Mermaid and Aladdin. Voices being used for the film are supplied from Anika Noni Rose, Oprah Winfrey, Keith David, John Goodman, Jim Cummings, Jenifer Lewis, Bruno Campos, Michael-Leon Wooley, Peter Bartlett and Terrence Howard.

The film is based in the French Quarter of New Orleans and follows the two main characters Prince Naveen from the land of Maldonia and a waitress called Tiana, with Disney promising a broadway-style musical theme. Prince Naveen asks Tiana for a kiss to break a spell cast on him by the evil voodoo magician called DR. Facilier, who originally turned him into a frog. Naveen gets a kiss but unlike other fairy tales Tiana turns into a frog herself, the two must then find their way to Mama Odie the good voodoo priestess of the Bayou. On their way they meet some new friends, the alligator who plays a trumpet and a firefly who has no luck with love. December the 11th has been set as the film release date, suggesting that the Princess and the Frog could be the hit present for Christmas. Disney Princess has already got one of the most successful merchandise ranges of all time, so expect to see the full works with new princess dresses and costumes as probably the most desired gift for any little girl.

The animation in the film will go back to the classic 2D Disney style, used in the films The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, recapturing the vibe of the late 80s and 90s. The latest technology will still be used for digital processing of the film, but the animation will be done using the traditional pencil on paper before being scanned into computers. Randy Newman from Pixar will be responsible for the music, one of the songs from the film is called "Down in New Orleans", the song was performed in 2007 at a Disney conference by Randy and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.
